JAKE OWEN, CHRIS STAPLETON TEAM UP FOR BRAND NEW SINGLE
July 18, 2016

A new contender has just thrown their hat in the ring for the country song of the summer. Jake Owen is joined by Chris Stapleton on “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You,” a serenading song that burns steady with plenty of groove. It’ll be going up against “H.O.L.Y.”, Florida Georgia Line’s heartfelt ballad, and Owen’s current single, “American Country Love Song.”

The two singles could not be more different though. Where “American Country Love Song” shines, “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You” simmers. It’s more spicy, dance floor dare than its windows-down-and-sunshine counterpart.

Stapleton has already proven he can bolster up a song with his backup vocals when recording on Gary Allen‘s Hangover Tonight,” which is very much cut from the same cloth as “If He Ain’t Gonna Love You.”

This is the third single off of his upcoming album American Love, and arguable the best yet. He’s sure to be playing all of these new songs and more at Country Night Lights!

Additional artists have been added to the Country Night Lights lineup! This second annual showcase of some of the hottest names in country music includes Frankie Ballard and Brothers Osborne, in addition to previously announced headliners. Here’s a quick rundown of all the artists with an all-inclusive official playlist to come!

Jake Owen

Of all the stars on the list, Owen has been in the spotlight the longest. He debuted his first album back in 2006 and has a steady stream of hits since. He tends to bounce around from sound to sound and try new things. One of his earlier, guitar heavy singles “8 Second Ride,” for example, is a complete 180 from his more laid back beach track aptly titled “Beachin.”

Apparently he even changes his style up in the middle of producing. He has released two singles with different traits since his last album. The first, “Real Life,” is very much the 21st Century country hit, while “American Country Love Song” is reminiscent of his previous work, a trend he said will stay.

After trying out something different, the singer ultimately decided to do the whole “back to his roots” kind of thing, so it’s safe bet he’ll be climbing the charts again when his album is released in July (just in time for a live performance at #CNL2016 in September).

Brett Eldredge

Eldredge went a different route, starting his career as a songwriter before blowing up to a full-fledged entertainer. He’s made a name with love song after love song like “Don’t Ya” and “Beat of the Music,” both of which reached No. 1 on the US Country Airplay charts.

The country crooner has recently released another charming single, “Drunk On Your Love,” a smooth romantic number he can add to his arsenal of date night done right anthems. It’s really no wonder he’s been called the Frank Sinatra of country music, although he speaks humbly about the comparison.

Brothers Osborne

Brothers Osborne has quickly catapulted into the genre with single after single of solid hits like “Say a Little Longer” and “.” The two brothers, TJ and John, have stood out from the crowd with a full range of elements that jump from classic country twang to arena rocking guitar riffs.

The brothers grew up in Deale, Maryland, a small fishing town where their family would host evening jam sessions. There they found TJ was a naturally talented singer and John had a knack for the guitar. Influenced by the likes of Tom Petty and Bob Seger, they developed a thick and bold style that would eventually garner them attention in Nashville… and now in Athens as part of the Country Night Lights lineup.

The simple living of their small town is reflected on tracks like “Dirt Rich,” while the actual town is featured in the music video of their hit song “Rum.” Brothers Osborne recently released their latest single, “21 Summer” off debut album “Pawn Shop”.

Frankie Ballard

Country music’s baby faced rock ‘n roller, Frankie Ballard, is one of the industry’s most promising up-and-comers. His raw, hoarse voice catches the ear’s attention and his unique style keeps all captive. Ballard rose to fame after winning Kenny Chesney’s next big star competition in 2008. However, it wasn’t until 2014 that he broke through into mainstream country with three consecutive No. 1 hits off of his album “Sunshine & Whiskey”.

His upcoming new album “El Rio” was named after the place he recorded it at, just south of El Paso. Ballard and his band retreated into the countryside for an intensive 10-day recording session that produced 14 songs, nine of which made it onto the album. Of these songs, two promising singles have already been released. “It All Started With A Beer” shows off Ballard’s ability to take it slow and steady while “Cigarette,” which was written by Chris Stapleton and Kip Moore, turns up the heat with loads of lust.

“El Rio” is due for release on June 10.
